Friday Footwear: Tokyo Jordan 5

22 Apr

The original Air Jordan V was released in February 1990, (designed by Tinker Hatfield of course).

Some elements were the same from the Air Jordan IV, but the Air Jordan V’s most distinctive feature is arguably its reflective tongue (3M reflective technology seem to light the tongue up in different light or when cameras flashed). The clear rubber soles (ice sole) became new to the Jordan line with this shoe.  The soles gave the shoe a whole new and unique look. TInker Hartield  is said to have gained inspiration for the Air Jordan V from the World War II P-40 Warhawk fighter plane; which is most notably visible in the shark teeth shapes on the midsole.

These Yellow Tokyo Jordan 5’s are flavorful and could be inspired by the Jordan 2’s Candy series. The Tokyo 5’s also features the Jordan Tokyo 23 Logo. May 2011, is the anticipated launch. These still come 2nd to the Jordan 5 Green Beans (Sliver) which features a FULL 3M outsole (whole shoe is 3M reflective) and a FULL gum sole. The Tokyo 5 (yellow) is a Nemesis in the my favorite Jordans conversation without even being worn yet…
