Friday Footwear: Gary Payton sneakers rival Jordans’

18 Aug

“Penny has the best shoe line next to Gary Payton next to Jordan” guess that’s why Jordan later sign Gary Payton to his PE’s

Hand Clapp’n, gum chewing, head cock’n, Ish Talk, with some fresh kicks on stealing the ball or laying u up, or the alley oop when he feels like it. #1 he’s got a ring, and was in the Jordan era, # 2 he held his own, # 3 he has an immortal nickname (The Glove) <led the league in steals multiple times> and # 4 it’s GP baby.

Gary Payton is clearly one of the only players to have a signature line that rivals MJ’s and Penny. Barkley had comfort, CWebb had style, Garnet and Allen Huston had technology, Jason Kid had ‘revolutionary’ kicks. Steve Nash didn’t always have the best kicks. VC did not, Mawberry, T Mac, etc, they had a good shoe…not a nice line. I’m talkn like AI made u wanna rock Reeboks over ur Jordans type shoes. Penny, Barkley, Rodmans, CWebbs, FoamP’s, AF1s, Max Airs (notice I dint say Lebrons, or Melo’s (though Melo second shoe still hottest in his line) Amares, or any Cons. GP’s shoes run those out here. Top Tier. The folks at Nicekicks.com said they wanted those GP Air Zoom 99s back (back when sneaker were sneakers). I say bring em all back.  WITH THE NON RUMOR THAT THE TIM DUNCAN ARE COMING BACK Nike should make moves on GP (and the Alan Huston Foamposites while they are at it)

NON KICKS FACTS:

  • NBA Champion (2006)
  • NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1996)
  • 9× NBA All-Star (1994–1998, 2000–2003)
  • 2× All-NBA First Team (1998, 2000)
  • 5× All-NBA Second Team (1995–1997, 1999, 2002)
  • 2× All-NBA Third Team (1994, 2001)
  • 9× NBA All-Defensive First Team (1994–2002)
  • NBA All-Rookie Second Team (1991)

Gary “Glove” Payton was in ur face, scoring, slashing, running the floor on some Point Guard *ish. He had is own shoes to boat and he was winning. They had a good shot to beat the Bulls, but you know who, did you know what. He didn’t fade out or loose edge over time. Glove was always relevent until it was time to go. He may not be remembered for his shoes exclusively, but the people that know, know. KG and Barkley is see yal, but it’s GP time.
